Gartner logoNews about our leader position in 2013 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Contact Center Infrastructure has been out for several days now. It’s our fifth consecutive year in the leader quadrant and we are honored to once again take the top spot. And most importantly we were named the visionary leader again this year.

For those of you unfamiliar with Gartner Magic Quadrants, they evaluate vendors on both completeness of vision and ability to execute, resulting in placement within one of four quadrants that represent visionaries, niche players, challengers, and leaders.

According to the Gartner report, “Genesys improved its Magic Quadrant position over the last year in both completeness of vision and ability to execute. For the third year running, Gartner recognized Genesys as the company with the most complete vision.”

But, what does this really mean for you, a potential buyer in the market?

Generally speaking, up-and-to-the-right is good as far as magic quadrants go.  And being the farthest right (greatest completeness of vision) is very good. But, what does it actually mean when you are out there evaluating solutions, trying to make sense of it all?

From our perspective it means a lot, and it should for you, our customers and prospects, too. Here are four reasons why I think the Magic Quadrant reports are valuable tools to help you make the right choice when it comes to new technology purchases:

  1. Understanding the Vision for the Market: Getting to know the vision of the visionary leader makes sense when deciding how to evaluate and future-proof the solutions from the various vendors. Knowing the state of the art is important when creating RFPs, mapping out possible solution scenarios, and understanding how they align to your company’s strategy for customer experience – today and into the future. It is worth spending the time to understand where the market is headed and how you will take advantage of innovations both today and into the future…
  2. Useful Insight for Prospective BuyersGartner Magic Quadrant reports help buyers make decisions that best meet their needs or solve their problems. Whether it is understanding the value of using a single vendor versus multiple point providers or exploring new areas like the cloud, Gartner provides unique and valuable insight to help you make an informed decision.
  3. The Latest on Market Trends and Industry Direction – Gartner leverages its vast knowledge on what is happening in the marketplace when compiling Magic Quadrant reports. They do a good job of sharing with buyers the high-level view of the market and the latest areas of innovation or consolidation. If you want to understand what direction a market or technology is heading, Gartner provides a good perspective.
  4. An Objective View of Competing Vendors – For its Magic Quadrant reports, Gartner carries out a rigorous competitive analysis of those vendors in the market. Before vendors can even participate, they need to qualify by meeting a pre-determined set of criteria – including breadth and depth of product. Gartner also interviews all participating companies, talking to their customers and challenging their views. If you want to know more about the competitive landscape, Gartner Magic Quadrant reports are a good place to start
